Transportation
Our chapter provides free transportation services for ambulatory senior citizens who are residents of Berkeley Heights, Long Hill Township, New Providence, Springfield and Summit to medical and dental appointments, physical therapy and dialysis treatments.
This important program was established in the 1930's and has become a staple community service. Generations of citizens have relied upon the American Red Cross to assist seniors facing mobility challenges. Last year, our volunteer drivers provided over 550 seniors with more than 7,000 free rides.
For reservations, please contact the Transportation Department at the Summit office at (908) 273-2076 ext. 16 Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Please provide two weeks' notice to reserve a ride.
Morris County residents should contact the Morris Area Paratransit System (MAPS) at (973) 366-9378 to arrange transportation.
The Colonial Crossroads Chapter urgently needs volunteer drivers. Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday. Red Cross vehicles are provided; you just need a valid driver's license and an interest in helping neighbors in need. For more information or to help, please contact our Volunteer Department at (973) 377-0455.
