Make a Donation
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that depends entirely on the generosity of the public to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
We are not a government agency and do not receive support from the federal or state government.
Contributions to the Colonial Crossroads Chapter are used to support local Red Cross programs and services, except for a portion of our budget which is sent to the National American Red Cross to help fund course development, national disasters, the blood services program and other nationally-managed services which support this and every chapter.
The Colonial Crossroads Chapter relies solely on community support and receives no funding from the national Red Cross. Without your support, we cannot survive.
Unrestricted, unspecified gifts provide us the most flexibility, but you may designate your gift for special purposes or a specific disaster and we will honor your request 100%.
Additional Donation Options
-
1Planned Giving
Some people choose to leave a specific dollar amount or asset via a will designation, while others give a percentage of the remainder of their estate. There are also planned gift vehicles that will allow you to make a contribution that will provide income for life for you and/or a loved one.
-
2Donating Stocks and Securities
If you own stocks, bonds or mutual funds that have appreciated in value, you have a unique opportunity to realize extra tax savings by making an outright gift to the Colonial Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross.
-
3In-Kind Gifts
Financial donations are the best way to assist the American Red Cross. However, the Red Cross will sometimes accept bulk donations of products that are immediately needed for an ongoing disaster relief operation.
-
4Donating a Vehicle or other Property Clothing Donations
You may donate your used car, truck, R.V., motorcycle, boat or construction equipment to the Colonial Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross. Your gift is tax-deductible and may be picked up at your home or office.
-
5Clothing Donations
We will gladly accept donations of gently used clothing. Simply drop off your donation in one of the bins behind our Chapter house, located at 695 Springfield Avenue in Summit or One Madison Avenue in Madison, or call 866-468-7228 to schedule a pick-up at your home or office.
The Red Cross has neither the resources nor the logistical systems to process these donations for distribution. However, financial proceeds from clothing donations will go directly to our Chapter to support local disaster relief services.
-
6Adopt a Manikin
Through our Adopt A Manikin program, residents and businesses can “adopt” an adult or infant manikin which would then wear a shirt displaying the sponsor’s name or company. Our chapter trained more than 17,000 people in life-saving skills last year and these manikins were used throughout the year.
There is also an opportunity to Adopt a Family or Individual who has experienced a disaster.
